CACMS PUBLIC HEARING AND CONSULTATION 2025

Update on Major Proposed Change to Standard 10 for Accreditation of Medical Education Programs Leading to the M.D. Degree

As part of its commitment to continuous quality improvement in undergraduate medical education, the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) recently completed a public consultation regarding proposed substantive changes to Element 10.2.

We are grateful to all individuals and organizations who contributed feedback through written submissions and participation in the hearing. Your input was invaluable to the process of strengthening the CACMS Standards and Elements and to help shape the future of medical education in Canada.

Next steps:

  • The CACMS Standards Subcommittee (SSC) will review all feedback received.
  • Substantive changes to Element 10.2 will be considered for final adoption at an upcoming CACMS Committee meeting.

The CACMS remains committed to transparency and ongoing dialogue with interested parties as part of its quality improvement process.
